- This client only supports Mac OS 10.13, 10.14, 10.15 and 11 (Big Sur). For older operating systems, see Unsupported Legacy Versions of AnyConnect. AnyConnect can be downloaded by UB faculty, staff and students who have paid the Comprehensive fee.
Some USC online services require access through on-campus USC Secure Wireless or a wired network connection. USC offers Virtual Private Networking (VPN) to provide secure remote access to these services when you are off-campus. Use AnyConnect VPN if you are away from the USC campus and are unable to connect to services. Additionally, you must use AnyConnect VPN to access internal USC systems handling confidential or sensitive data, such as Student Information Systems (SIS), and file servers for specific schools and departments.
Local AnyConnect Profiles XML and profile files are stored locally to the users machine. The location varies based on OS. Windows XP%ALLUSERSPROFILE.
Please be aware that you DO NOT need to use AnyConnect VPN when accessing Blackboard, Zoom, Workday, ServiceNow, Microsoft Office 365 or Google Apps at USC.

How Do I Connect to VPN?
- Faculty/Non-IT Staff and Students: Use AnyConnect VPN using the following address: vpn.usc.edu. Duo Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is required.
- IT Employees/SIS Users: Use AnyConnect VPN using the following address: connect.usc.edu. Duo 2FA is required.

What is two-factor authentication?To increase security measures on your account, two-factor authentication requires two steps to log in. The first step is using something you know (i.e., your password), and the second step is something you have (i.e., cell phone) to securely verify your identity.

Enroll
In order to verify your identity, you will be required to enroll your phone (“something you have”) in FIU’s two-factor authentication system.
Please review these simple step-by-step instructions below to enroll your phone:
- Visit login.fiu.edu/enroll
- Log in using your FIU username and password
- When prompted, enter the phone number of the device you would like to enroll in two-factor authentication (FIU numbers will not be accepted).
- Specify what type of device corresponds to the enrolled number
- When prompted, enter the code you received
- You are now enrolled in two-factor authentication
TwoFactor with VPN
Launch your Cisco AnyConnect VPN client, you will be prompted for your FIU username, password, and a “second password”. In this second password field, you will specify your preferred verification method (“something you have”).
In the second password field, you will be required to type “push”, “phone”, or “sms”.
